Here is Danny, all banged up from playing at school....four days before leaving the island for home.

Saying goodbye to our dear friend Antonio -- Danny's Belizean brother.

Leaving in our transportation for the duration...the trusty golf cart.

Leaving Paz Villas .... renamed Coral Garden .... for the last time.

The boat that will take us
off the island.

Last view of the dock and San Pedro.

Goodbye, San Pedro....we had a wonderful time!!!

The dock at Caulker Caye - part-way to the mainland......

 The Ramada Princess/Belize City, Belize

The cool hotel pool.

Views from our floor - 5th floor.

Belize International Airport

Taking a little nap on the job...

Goodbye Belize...We will miss you!

Well, our Belize adventure is at an end.  It was an enlightening, incredible and unforgettable experience.  We ate great food, saw fabulous things and places, learned about new cultures, and made life-long friends.  We are already talking about a return visit - at some point in the future.

We are off to Christmas at Disney, then home on December 27th.  It will be a bittersweet return..and we will have to get acclimated to the cold.  UGH!!!

We hope you enjoyed the blog.  We had fun sharing our thoughts and experiences with you.

Love,

Margy & Danny

Tonight is our last night in San Pedro, Ambergris Caye.  We leave the island tomorrow to stay in Belize City.  Then we are off to Florida, and Disney World, on Sunday.  This has been an incredible experience and we have made many great friends.  This is an experience we will never forget.  We are trying to figure out when we can return.

Here are some more random pictures of San Pedro.  It is a very small island, but very busy.

I love the name of this..."Dr. Group Pharmacy".

This is San Pedro Roman Catholic primary school.

We highly recommend this restaurant if you come here.
But don't flush the toilet paper!!!
This is typical of many places on the island.

The typical view down the alleys on the island.

We watched this guy fish while we were eating lunch at Blue Water Grill.

This Mayan lady walks the beaches every day selling her wares.

The San Pedro Public Library (1st floor) and the Belize
Tourist Board (2nd floor).

Baby and Party Shop.........

Hurricanes Bar and Grill

Rum, cigars AND coffee all from the same place!!

I love the name of this beauty supply store!!

This is the local football field....not grass, but sand.

Here is the local post office.

Yes, they have a one hour lunch!

Our favorite place for dinner.

Most of the street signs have some marine animal on them.

This is the local Lions' Club Lions Den.
It is a very active place.

On Thursday nights you pick a number on an oversized
board they place on the sand in front of the restaurant.
Then you place a bet that the live chicken that they drop will
land on your number.  A very popular activity!!

These two gentlemen carve beautiful Mayan artwork on slate.
They have no formal training...just the talent passed down in their
Mayan heritage.  Incredible stuff!!

A Mayan woman selling her wares on the beach.  This stuff is beautiful.

Yes, aficionados, Cuban cigars are readily available here.

This is SOOOOO true!!!!

This is the local ambulance

Estel's was our favorite place for breakfast.

Here is the view from Estel's at breakfast.  One reason why it was our favorite place.

There was a Christmas golf cart parade through town.  Here is one of the entries.

KMart???????

This place has the best cinnamon rolls in the world!!

Our friend Erica works here.  She arranged most of our
tours and weekend activities.

We love the name of this chicken.  We kept calling it
"wi fi" chicken.  Apparently, the name is Creole for
"this is our chicken".

San Pedro decked out for Christmas.

You can buy fresh cooked tortillas here...she cooks them
on the grill right in front (by the open pillar).

One of the MANY bars/clubs in San Pedro.

Looking toward Central Park...There are stands here where
people sell all kinds of items, from jewelry to wood carvings,
to wall hangings....You name it and they "have something
you will love, lady."

Central Park

You'd be surprised how fast golf carts can go....

A little Jimmy Buffet inspiration...

It is not unusual to see this.....really safe.

This is James, a very talented wood
carver.

This is the second to the last post from Belize.  We leave San Pedro on Saturday the 20th and will be staying in Belize City overnight.  We leave the country on Sunday the 21st.  While we are looking forward to being home with family and friends, we are a bit sad to be leaving our home of the past two months.

Love,
Margy & Danny
